Tools You Need

Have a glance on the tools you will need while installing.

Let’s install it.

Step 1: Remove the Previous Stabilizer

Uplift your car. Or go under the car where there remain tie rod and U-joint parts near the steering wheels. If your truck or jeep already has a stabilizer, you need to remove that one.

If your truck does not have, then skip this step. Start with the further steps.

To remove your old steering stabilizer, take out the bolts one by one with any arm puller or bolt opener. Then, take out the steering carefully from the tie rod.

Step 2: Attach One Bracket on One side

Now, start with any one side. Attach the axle bracket that comes with the stabilizer.  Tighten two bolts to attach with the tie rod. Then connect one steering with another two bolts.

Use any socket wrench or bolt fastener to tighten the bolts.

Step 3: Connect Another Bracket on Other End

Similarly, connect the second axle bracket on the other end of the tie rod. Be sure of the measure before joining.

And then connect the second steering also. Tighten all the bolts correctly. But don’t tighten too much that cut out the washer.

Step 4: Attach the U Joint Bolt in the Middle

Now the joining time. Attach a U joint bolt in the middle. Keep it loosen with the tie rod so that you can balance and join the two steering stabilizer.

Step 5: Join the Two Stabilizer

Join the stabilizers. To join them, attach them with the bracket provided with the stabilizer kit. Insert the bolt into the bracket then insert that into the stabilizer socket. Then, tighten the bolts with the U joint bracket.

Repeat the same for the second one. While doing this step, be sure of the correct measurement and the proper balancing on both sides.

Tighten all the bolts. Check and make sure the stabilizers are correctly connected with the tie rod. They don’t move or loosen an inch.

Step 6: Start the Engine & Check

Start the engine and turn the tires both in the left and right. Check if you feel any hindrance to moving the tires or not. Check the two stabilizers and also ensure they don’t loosen.

If everything is alright, have a test drive.

Do I need to Install Stabilizer or Not?

It’s a common question that most people do. But the thing that you must know what a stabilizer does. If you know well, then you can decide whether you need to install it or not.

In general, if the tires of your truck or jeep are more than 33’’ high, then, the single stabilizer will work well. But if they are more than 37’’, then you must go with the dual stabilizer.

From another point, if you feel too much steer bumping and vibrations while driving, you can be sure of having the dual steering stabilizer.

But if you assume, the bumps are not felt that much then, a single one will finely work to prevent this.

So, it’s up to your driving area and the tire features.  But in the time of installing, make sure the geometrical dimension is correct. And the bolts you connect are tightened enough.

And anyhow if you face any of the following symptoms-

  • Vibration in high speed
  • Shaking of the steering wheel
  • Clunky noise from under the vehicle

Then, be sure that the steering stabilizer needs repairing or checking.
